Have a Star Party in conjunction with your special event!
|
Our typical star party for community events includes a 20 - 40 minute
presentation about astronomy (we work together to choose a topic)
Members bring telescopes to show interesting objects in the sky.
|
|
The Denver Astronomical Society has a limited ability to offer Star Parties
where our members bring a projector, present a program, and bring smaller
amateur telescopes to your location to talk about astronomy and to view
celestial events. We are a volunteer organization, and as such only have
limited abilities to make these presentations. We offer very few daytime
events, as our members work their normal jobs. Start times vary with the
season.
|
|
We charge a fee based on the type of group we are meeting. The money is
tax deductable, and the funds are used to purchase equipment and support
these public outreach events away from the University of Denver's Historic
Chamberlin Observatory. The members receive salary or compensation for
these volunteer efforts.

Q: Should you consider having DAS come to your place, or make plans to
attend a Public event at Chamberlain Observatory? You can make a
reservation for $3.00 per adult and $2.00 for kids. Our usual fee
of $75 for community groups breaks down to 3 adults = $9.00, 33 kids
= $66, for a total of $75. If you have more people, the costs come
down. We like to limit group sizes to around 40 to allow each person
to spend some time with a telescope and not become bored or distracted.
